Microchip your cat before 10th June 2024
Owners have until 10th June 2024 to microchip their cat
- Owners will be required to microchip their cats by the time they reach 20 weeks of age.
- Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to comply or potentially face a fine of up to £500.
- A microchip around the size of a grain of rice, is implanted between the shoulder blades just under the skin, programmed with a unique number. When an animal is found, the microchip can be read with a scanner and the registered keeper identified on a database, so that the pet can quickly be reunited with them.
